Hello and welcome to Cool-ade.

My name is Adrian Cooke and this site acts as the online presence for my career in computing. I use Cool-ade to share knowledge, to discuss topics that interest or annoy me and to showcase web development projects.

I tend to focus on are Macintosh-Windows integration because I have expert knowledge and Information Security because I have strong views. However, I may address any computing or web related subject.

My background is a professional education with over 15 years computing experience equally split between Windows PC and Apple Macintosh computer systems. This has been predominately working in the Advertising, Media and Publishing industries. Working in these industries has helped me to develop creative awareness. A skill that I have put to use in web development projects.

Information Security

Fact! Information Security breaches are increasing in frequency and sophistication. While the corporate environment employs dedicated personnel to tackle security, consumer and small business users have to fend for themselves.

This website provides general commentary on Information Security news. It also provides general advise through discussions, articles and links.

Additionally, I provide security reviews and guidance on security best practice specifically for individuals and small businesses.

Web Development

You need a website, but not just any old website. It must represent you, so the look and feel is important, but the content takes preference.

  • I build websites with effective designs from the ground up or adapt templates.
  • I use WordPress as a publishing tools, giving users control of their content.
  • I implement promotion strategies utilising search engines, pay-per-click, link swaps, social networking, etc…
  • I use: XHTML / CSS / Scripting.

This is what I do. It may have slightly different names, IT support analyst, network analyst, systems engineer. But there all the same to me.

I’m essentially a security focused, cross platform computer systems engineer with web skills. Therefore, I have a wide range of computing skills: from general support to infrastructure implementation.
